HO Scale 7' Charging Boxes
The Open Hearth process was one of the primary methods of making steel in the late 1800's and the first half of the 1900's. The furnace was charged with molten iron from the blast furnace and scrap steel which lowered the production costs of the steel it created. The Open Hearths were supplied with scrap steel and additives by "Charging Boxes" inserted into the furnace and dumped using a specialized charging machine.
Our HO Scale 7' Open Hearth Charging Boxes are pewter castings, unpainted, 4 per package.
